along the ring of kerry – one of the top ten scenic driving routes in the world (and a drive i’ll be showing lots of pics from) – we saw castle ruins and beautiful scenery. but my favorite was this ancient fort. it was a large wall built of stone – using no mortar. one sign said it was from 1,000 BC, another said it was built maybe a bit later, like in the early AD years. either way, it’s old. it was where the chieftain’s family lived. either that, or without ps3 or nintendo to keep the kids busy, it was an ancient chore given to some poor kid by their parents. “go pile some rocks on top of each other and don’t come in until dark. ”
