Oh, February, you are a joy. Cold, wintry nights cozied up by the fireplace, kitty sitting, purring on my lap and my butler bringing me more hot coffee.
We have no fireplace. My cat sits just out of reach of all of us. And the butler hasn’t shown up for work since 1929.
Fine, February. I sit under three blankets and relish the rare minutes I can grab to read to myself. Those minutes were few and far between this month as we celebrated three birthdays in our family and continued my fun, but frantic life-full of Current Things I Got Myself Into and Can’t Get Out Of and I only made it through two books for enjoyable reading this month:
I was (Blind) Dating, But Now I See by Stephanie Rische. SAS (Short Attention Span) Review: A fun look at Stephanie’s experience with being set up on 8 different blind dates. She applies lessons learned through these dates to her life and her faith in God. Since I’m “Let’s go to breakfast!” friends with Stephanie in real life, it was enjoyable to read of a part of her life I knew little about (since I didn’t know her yet!) and appreciate her wisdom and grace she shows in all areas of her life. Bonus: the guy she ended up with is perfect for her. Rating: As if I would rate this any less than a 10! Go buy it!!
A Window Opens by Elisabeth Egan. SAS Review: Wife and mother takes on a full-time job in the city when her husband decides to quit his job and start his own business. How she balances her work, her commute and her father’s failing health all add up to a good read. Although the story is somewhat familiar and formulaic, Egan’s writing is what makes this book interesting and good. Rating: 8 (I rate the cover of this book a 10 – isn’t it the best?? Love the design.)
Here’s January’s list.

(Oh my goodness, yesterday a visitor at work STOLE ONE OF MY PENS FROM MY DESK and I literally could not recover. Like, you can’t steal MY PEN. It made me realize how weird I am and also my co-worker laughed at me… #issues)
