A friend told me the other day that she thought SuperBoy was starting to look like a boy and growing up and – this was the zinger – was I ready for that?
Uh…no? So then I got all sentimental and read my old blog posts about him. All the cereal dumped on the floor, all the angel food cake fed to the dog and one of my favorites – which I had forgotten about – when SuperBoy was three years old and ordered a book from Amazon.com all by himself.
So, we got home today and I noticed my BFF Amazon.com had sent me an email saying my order had shipped. Hmm… I wondered, what order? The books I ordered this week had already arrived. So I checked my account and suddenly it dawns on me: SuperBoy ordered a book on Amazon.com! The little stinker snuck downstairs and clicked and clicked on buttons until he had ordered The Good Husband of Zebra Drive by Alexander McCall Smith. Although it is the eighth installment in the international bestselling series of books of the Ladies Detective Agency, I can’t see it as a book a three year old boy would really want to read.
Four Days Later I reported:
We got a special box in the mail from Amazon.com and I said to Mr MIP, I’m going to ask SuperBoy if he recognizes this book (it being the book SuperBoy ordered all by himself).Mr MIP (a.k.a. Doubting Thomas) says, “He doesn’t know what he did.”
I say, “Oh yes he does.”
So I turn to SuperBoy and show him the book and say, “Recognize this?”
And SuperBoy says, “Yes, I clicked that book.” And he takes it in his hands and flips through the pages and says, “Huh, it’s just words.”
Little Stinker….I’m gonna miss you.
