When I was growing up, my mom read a ton of magazines and one had this column in the front called something like, “Save This Marriage!” It would present the husband’s side of the problem, then the wife’s side of the problem and then the counselor’s suggestions. Do you remember that at all?
Anyway, I thought we’d do a style of that today – and you’re the counselor!
Obvious Disclaimer: My husband and I love each other very much and our marriage will not fall apart over this issue. Don’t worry, Grandma!
Here’s the thing. I get in my car, turn the key and instant FUN! The radio will be blaring, the air conditioner will be on – the back (kid’s area) air conditioner vents will be on and going… When I stop the car, I leave all that alone, so that next time, I can just get in and go.
Pros: 1. I waste less time when I start up the car the next time.
2. Less fuss.
3. MUSIC BLARING…what more needs to be said?
HE stops the car, turns off the ignition and then turns off every last button possible!!! That means the next time I get into my car I have to turn the air on, turn the radio on, and get the kids’ vents going. (Never mind the fact that I’m already having to adjust the mirrors, and the seat.)
He says the pro is: 1. This is better for your engine.
Help us! Who is right? Is turning off the buttons really better for the engine so it doesn’t start all that up automatically the next time?
Or, since it’s my car, should he leave the air and music going??
Or wait – I have an idea, since it’s a stupid minivan we’re discussing, should my inner teenage self sell the thing and buy the car I really want? Yes, that must be the answer!
Let me know who you think is right and who is wrong and we’ll see if we can compromise and come to terms.
