Today it’s Reveal a Secret Day on MIP. No, don’t reveal yours – I don’t really want to know them. I just thought it would be fun to share a little quirk of mine. So you can laugh. And mock. And, by the way, my secrets are really not that exciting. Which is fine with me. I just read somewhere that when you have principles and live by them, 99% of your decisions are easily made. I also read that living life the right way is not complicated, but it is difficult. (Those two statements are not contradictory, by the way.) Okay, where am I going with that? I don’t know. As my wise dad used to always says, “Stay straight with the Lord!”
Okay, here’s my non-exciting secret!
I alphabetize my spices.
Now, just looking at that picture, it doesn’t look alphabetized, but that’s because it’s in rows… see?
All the little spices, waiting like little soldiers, ready to do my bidding. I love you spices.
Here’s the other part of the secret… I alphabetize spices, but this is what my kitchen counter looks like:
Cereal boxes, mocha cups left from this morning’s breakfast. The shelf paper left where I threw it last Monday. (I did one shelf and quit…too much measuring.) The herbs waiting in a row by my window…waiting for warmer weather so they can be planted outside. Magazines unread and letters to be organized.
Guess what I’m doing today? I figure having messy counters shows that our life is full at home. Right? Um… yeah. It’ll keep me out of trouble.
