After mentioning the Fingerpainting Experience, you’re probably just Dying to know what we did for Art Day last week. Here’s the scoop:
We bought half-price feeders for our backyard earlier in the summer and have had fun watching the birds come and tackle the feeders…well, them and Maddie the dog’s “squirrel-friends.” Mainly I’m just in love with our pair of cardinals that has come every year to the pine trees behind our yard (whom I’ve lovingly named Jack and Roxie.). So we’re feeding them. Which is what we did for art day. Made Bird Cookies!
You mix peanut butter, flour and birdseed and bake for about 20 minutes.
SuperBoy enjoyed the mushy mess.
We strung the cookies on yarn and hung them by the feeder.
Now, this being a blog, I could end by giving you the exact recipe and being all…”ooh, look at our wonderful, shmunderful cookies and the birds they attracted and oh, how magical is my life.” But, I’ll be honest. The cookies were much too large to stay together – many broke apart. And the house smelled like burnt peanut butter for hours and approximately 1.3 minutes after hanging the cookies, I noticed one was gone and I got this look from Maddie the Dog:
