Mood: Just an all-around nice day. Sometimes nice days sneak out of nowhere and just take you by surprise.
Music: Too much to list here. Good music day.
Update: Well, how can I avoid mentioning the Cub’s loss today? They gave up 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th and lost to the Mets. The only fun thing about that was listening to the WGN guys discuss it afterward.
Then, tonight we went to see the Class A Kane County Cougars. Class A is a step above College Ball and two steps above Your Major League Chicago Cubs.
My 7yo read books over the school year and got her ticket, a t-shirt, a hot dog and a drink for free. She’s proud of being able to follow the score in a baseball game (that’s my girl!). My 5yo daughter went along with us. It took her until the 7th inning to figure out where the batters stood and that this wasn’t the Cubs, it was the Cougars. Both girls were equally mystified as to why Scott Products were handing out free rolls of toilet paper at the end of the game; they thought it hilarious. 5yo, forgetting it was the Cougars game we had just been to, remarked: “Guess the Cubs were in a free toilet paper mood.” Yes, dear, the Cubs need some free tp to clean up the mess they’re making of the season!
Ed. Note: It should be mentioned that no fries were injured during the Cougars game. Me In Place and her subsidiaries did not let one little, tantalizing bite of super hot and delish fries tempt her.
Although it should be noted that the Nachos did not fair so well.
