-Phoenicians were known for their glass making skills. They made glass from sand and lye. But did you know they invented the art of glass blowing?
-Phoenicians dyed cloth using snails. The snails produced a purple color to dye the wool. Since it took so many snails to make the color it meant only very wealthy people could afford to wear purple clothing. Thus, the idea that purple is the color of the kings.
-Boiling the snails created such a nasty smell in the city of Tyre, it was a common insult in ancient times to tell somebody; “You smell like a man from Tyre!”
