i will write today. a poem, a story, a line or two.

I think, "I will write today. A poem, a story, a line or two."
I wake slowly. Make coffee. Fuss with my hair, and say a little prayer for Sunday.
We drive down Willowcreek, get there early. Welcome them in, lead across the hall to hear, sing, remind them of His love. Share a "look" with her when our thoughts match. Back to our room, pages to color, blocks to build with, a high-five for a good answer. A smile when the other asks, "Can I have a high-five too?"
Coffee refilled, we enter the sanctuary. The pastor shares about Jesus on generosity. Main points, applications, my daughter and I get the giggles at a joke. Listen. What does this (He) require of me?
Give. Give our all.
Give it my all.
Give Him my all?
I will write today. A poem, a story, a line or two.
Salad, comfy clothes, the afternoon.
I pull my computer onto my lap.
Cubs game on. A favorite band releases a new song. I go down the trail of listening to new, old, "I know these by heart" memories. Lyrical rhymes, careful phrasing reaches my heart. Have I spent an hour listening?
Texts from daughter. We compare notes. Cover our favorite topics. Catch up from the weekend. Love you. Love you too.
I will write today. A poem, a story, a line or two.
The sun hits the window with a 5:13 hue. Have I wasted a day? Husband returns, we catch up. Plan.
I will write today. A poem, a story, a line or two.
No pictures, no proof, no carousel of impressing. No wins, no loss, no grand gestures, no bouquet.
A smile, a high five, a challenge, a rest, a song, a plan, a prayer.
I wrote today. A poem, a story.
Just a line or two.
